MYLOS (MILO)

"Woof woof Wufff" to everyone. ELFIE the Superdog here. Hope you are all doing well.

In September, my MA thought that I should have a 'Doggy Companion'. So my MA looked for Puppies on the internet, and on the Wednesday evening, September 23rd, she found a cute little guy named MILO, but my MA changed the spelling to MYLOS, meaning 'friendly'.

MYLOS came from a Rescue Centre in California. We arranged to take him, and on Saturday, September 26th, we saw him for the very first time. He was just 9 weeks and 6 days old.

We bonded straight away. He needed stability in his life. He went from Owners to Rescue Centre in California, then Medical check prior to his flight to Canada. He was then 'cleared in' to Canada. Another Medical check. Another Rescue Centre. So many different places and so many different people. He really needed stability in his life and someone to look after him full-time. We took him Home so he could settle in with us.

The next day, we played at Home....
then drove to the beach so he could play with ELFIE. He likes the beach....MYLOS on the beach watching ELFIE in the water.

In his first three weeks with us, we went to a Dog Agility Competition with ELFIE twice. MYLOS was interested in seeing ELFIE run and jump over the obstacles.

He had a cough, that got worse. We took him to our local Vet. In addition to his cough, he was diagnosed with pneumonia. We took MYLOS to the Vet Hospital in Victoria. Another 'different place', more 'different people'.

He must have thought that we had got rid of him. He started to 'shut down'. My PA wanted to go and see him (as MYLOS felt 'attached' to PA). MYLOS was happy to see PA, and re-gained his 'Will to Live'. Every day, PA spent many hours with MYLOS at the Vet Hospital.

On Monday, October 26th, at the Vet Hospital, we heard the magic words, "MYLOS to go Home". Two days later, MYLOS visited our local Vet again for a check-up and weighed MYLOS, 5 pounds (2.3 Kilos). Six days later, we returned to the same Vet. MYLOS had put on a whole pound in just 6 days, that's 1/5 of his weight. That's a lot for a little Puppy.

MYLOS settled down very well with us. It was such a joy to see him wag his tail. We knew he was happy. He played with toys. He'd look out the window on ELFIE's PLACE and see the beautiful scenery. MYLOS was very happy, with his whole life ahead of him, with people who he loves.

On Sunday, November 8th 2009, two weeks after MYLOS came Home from Hospital, we could see his was arched, and he yelped indicating an internal pain. We took MYLOS to our local Vet again, who said that MYLOS nervous system was affected and it reached his spine and was going to his brain. The following day, the Vet had to put MYLOS 'to sleep'. MYLOS was just 16 weeks old.

MYLOS was with us at Home for just 6 weeks and 2 days, but he will be a part of us always and forever.

We would like to thank, very sincerely, our local Vet, and all the Staff of the Central Victoria Veterinary Hospital. Thank you all for your dedication to preserving life.
